Entry

Updated: May 21

A few years ago I got to meet two good online friends of mine in person. We met up in Washington D.C. as one was sight seeing. We only had one day together, but it was a total blast.

Spyke checking out the Megalodon.

Spyke O'Hanlin is a certified awesome guy, and award winning video editor who I share both having Tourette's and a birthday with.

He has a published book you can check out: Black Sandz: Seige and Desist

His amazing videos and documentaries can be seen here: SPK Projects

We got to see a few neat things before entering into the actual exhibits.

Moai (Stone Figure)

Moai (ancestor figure)

Rapa Nui

Rapa Nui (Easter Island), Chile

Ca. CE 1000-1600

Rano Raraku volcanic tuff

E28.368

"Moai from remote Rapa Nui are among the most iconic South Pacific objects. Standing around CE 1000, Rapa Nui artesian quarried, carved, transported and raised hundreds of moai on stone platform temples, or ahu, located mostly along the coat.

Moai represented illustrious ancestors who brought benefits to their living decedents. The figures were spiritually activated during ceremonies by placing eyes carved of white coral and red scoria into prepared sockets. Most of the moai were toppled before Western contact in 1722, probably during internal social disturbances".
